Protect Your Investment From CT's Harsh Winters!
At Nick’s Services CT, our undercoating service is designed to protect your vehicle from New England’s harsh winters. We start by thoroughly washing and steam cleaning the undercarriage to remove dirt, road salt and grime. Once the surface is clean and dry, we apply Woolwax® Black, a proven corrosion inhibitor that creeps into seams and crevices to create a tough barrier against moisture and salt. This heavy‑duty coating won’t crack or peel like traditional undercoatings, providing long‑lasting protection for trucks, SUVs, cars and commercial vehicles.
Undercoating doesn’t just help prevent rust; it also reduces road noise and helps maintain your vehicle’s resale value. Our experienced technicians service all makes and models and we’re proud to serve customers throughout southeastern Connecticut, including Old Lyme, East Lyme, Niantic, Essex, Old Saybrook and the surrounding shoreline communities. Whether you use your vehicle for work or play, regular undercarriage protection is an affordable way to extend its life and keep it looking its best. Schedule your undercoating appointment today and experience the peace of mind that comes with professional rust protection.

Undercoating Services
We use WoolWax black, a lanolin-based undercoating known for its excellent protection. Along with the undercoating, we also include a wheels-off exterior detail with a wash, paint decontamination, and paint sealant, plus a thorough undercarriage wash and prep to make sure everything is ready for application.
After prepping, we apply WoolWax to the underbody, frame cavities, and frame components, while leaving certain drivetrain parts free (like the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveline, exhaust, and brakes) for better serviceability. This process ensures a great balance between protection and accessibility for future maintenance.

Protection, Done Right
Trust your vehicle with Nick's Services CT. Let us take care of protecting your most valuable asset. Why choose an undercoating service?
-
Rust and Corrosion Prevention
Undercoating provides a protective layer on the undercarriage, which is highly vulnerable to rust due to exposure to moisture, salt, and road debris. Our high-quality undercoating materials form a barrier that prevents rust from forming on the vehicle’s metal parts. -
Extended Vehicle Lifespan
Rust can weaken essential components like the frame, exhaust, and brake lines, leading to expensive repairs. Undercoating helps protect these parts, ultimately extending the life of your vehicle and saving you from costly maintenance down the road. -
Improved Resale Value
A well-maintained vehicle with minimal rust and corrosion will have a higher resale value. Investing in undercoating now will pay off when it’s time to sell or trade in your vehicle.

FAQ's
-What is automotive undercoating, and why is it important?
-
Automotive undercoating is a protective coating applied to the underside of your vehicle to help prevent rust and corrosion caused by road salt, moisture, and debris. In New England and along the shoreline, roads are treated heavily in winter, so undercoating helps extend the life of your frame, brake and fuel lines, and other critical components.
-What type of undercoating product do you use?
-
We use a lanolin-based product (WoolWax-style rust inhibitor) that stays soft and flexible instead of drying hard. It creeps into seams, overlaps, and inside frame rails, helping to seal out moisture and salt. Because it doesn’t crack, it can be maintained and refreshed over time instead of trapping rust underneath.
-Which areas do you serve, and how do I book an appointment?
-
We serve southeastern Connecticut and the surrounding shoreline communities (for example: Old Lyme, East Lyme, Niantic, Old Saybrook, New London, Waterford, Groton, Mystic, and nearby towns). To book an appointment or get a quote, you can call, text, or email us with your year, make, model, and a brief description of how you use the vehicle (daily driver, plow truck, work truck, etc.).
-How long does an undercoating treatment last, and how often should it be reapplied?
-
In typical New England driving, you can expect strong protection for about 1–2 winters from a full undercoating. For daily drivers and work trucks, we recommend a yearly or every-18-month inspection and refresh. For garage-kept or lightly driven vehicles, you may be able to stretch it closer to 2 years between full applications.
-Why should I choose a lanolin-based undercoating instead of a hard, rubberized coating?
-
Hard, rubberized coatings dry solid, which can seem great at first, but if they ever crack, chip, or separate, they can trap moisture and salt against the metal and hide rust underneath. A lanolin-based product stays soft and self-healing, so it creeps into seams and overlaps and continues to protect instead of cracking. If it gets disturbed, it can flow back over the area, and it’s easy to inspect and maintain over time—making it a better long-term choice for real-world New England road conditions.
-Does WoolWax harden or “dry” after it’s applied?
-
No. WoolWax is designed to stay soft and gel-like rather than drying into a hard, brittle layer. That’s one of its biggest advantages. Because it never fully hardens, it can continue to creep into seams, overlaps, and tight spots, and it won’t crack or chip the way some solid coatings can. This self-healing, non-drying behavior is what helps it keep protecting your vehicle season after season, especially in salty New England conditions.
-Can you undercoat a vehicle that already has rust, or only new vehicles?
-
We can undercoat both new and used vehicles. On a brand-new vehicle, undercoating helps prevent rust from starting in the first place. On a used vehicle with surface rust, the product can help slow further corrosion by creeping over and into rusty areas and sealing out moisture. It cannot repair structural rust, but it can help protect what’s still solid.
-What does the undercoating process involve, and how long does it take?
-
First, we inspect the undercarriage and look for any severe rust or sensitive components. Then we rinse and clean the underside to remove dirt, salt, and loose material, allow it to dry, mask off areas that shouldn’t be coated, and finally apply the undercoating using wands and spray equipment. Most standard vehicles take about 3-5 hours, depending on size and condition.
-My vehicle is already pretty rusty underneath. Is it still worth undercoating it?
-
In many cases, yes. Even if your frame and components show surface rust, undercoating can still help slow things down and protect the remaining solid metal. We can’t reverse deep or structural rust, but a lanolin-based product can creep over rusty areas, displace moisture, and help keep salt from making it worse. Before we start, we’ll inspect your undercarriage and be honest about what’s realistic—if something is too far gone or unsafe, we’ll let you know instead of just spraying over it.
